Description | The Scout Association provides adventurous activities and personal development opportunities for 400,000 young people aged 6-25. The Scout Association is the largest coeducational uniformed organisation in the UK. Internationally, we have over 28 million young people enjoying the benefits of Scouting across 216 countries. Personal development means promoting the physical, intellectual, social and spiritual well-being of the individual, helping them achieve their full potential. In Scouting, we believe that young people develop most when they are 'learning by doing,' when they are given responsibility, work in teams, take acceptable risks and think for themselves. Visit www.scouts.org.uk . Our District has 550 young people supported by adults. Some Groups have waiting lists for young people but we do need more adults Scouting provides a well tried framework within which young people and adults have the freedom to develop their skills and confidence in an enjoyable way. Through games, activities, camps, expeditions, challenges and training, all hopefully with lots of fun, individuals develop friendships, trust, confidence, and leadership and team skills. Scouting encourages people to try new things, make new friends and stretch themselves, stirring in generous amounts of confidence as necessary. Adventure |
