Purpose The aim of Business in the Community's ProHelp service is to provide free professional support to the not for profit sector, including charities and social enterprises, who provide a service to their local community. ProHelp is a network of professionalal firms each of which has offered to provide professional advice and strategic support free of charge to these types of groups in their local area. Collectively ProHelp is the largest provider of free professional support to local communities.

Business in the Community Derby is the local office of a national organisation which aims to meet community needs by increasing the involvement of employees, with the encouragement and support of their employers, in the work of voluntary and community organisations. It involves employees from the private and public sectors in a variety of ways - through secondment, volunteering, mentoring, on management committees and offering professional advice.
Services We offer free professional services such as Architects, Structural and Quantity Surveyors, Solicitors, Accountants, Property Consultants, Marketing and Graphic Designers and IT infrastructure advice and cost reduction.

Opening Times Please telephone during office hours which are Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm. Alternatively, you may email us, providing your telephone number and we will respond to you during office hours.
Eligibility Criteria You must be a community based, not for profit group working for the social and economic regeneration of your local area and should fit within the following criteria: - have a track record of working successfully with the local community; - have no funding available for the specific project and no paid advisors retained to do the work; - if part of a national organisation, your branch must be locally constituted, and prove that neither the expertise nor the funding to pay for the work is available centrally; - your project must be realistic and viable. Please note that: - applications for assistance with litigation will not be considered; - help is generally not given to animal welfare organisations or organisations whose primary focus is overseas aid; - assistance to religous groups will only be offered if the project benefits the wider community.
Meeting Place Services are provided by a relevant professional firm, generally from your local area.
Service Costs All organisations will receive one free service. Subsequent requests (within 3 years of the previous request) will incur an administration fee, however the professional service will remain free of charge.
