Purpose Rhubarb Farm is asocial enterprise providing work placements, training and volunteering opportunities for people who are unemployed, NEETS, ex-offenders, recovering drug and alcohol mis-users, people with mental and physical ill health, people with a learning disability, and people with dementia. Our aim is to support people with their employment and health needs, and to inspire better health, social integration and self-esteem. Volunteers get involved in horticultural work, craft activities, courses, construction work, general labouring, admin work or customer service, whatever is required when they are on site, and whatever they feel capable of doing.
We are successful at getting a proportion of our volunteers into paid employment and have an expanding group of local employers who will consider taking our volunteers when they have vacancies.
Services Supply veg bags to a weekly group of customers, and some families in food poverty.
Have a Drug and Alcohol Worker and a Youth Worker deliver services to secondary school students and ex substance misusers.
Volunteers are supported by staff, and home visits can be made prior to a volunteer starting on site.
Run informal courses, and also host courses, events, corporate challenges, school groups and visits for other organisations.
Can arrange transport for volunteers under some circumstances.
