Purpose | District and neighbourhood centres are at the heart of our local communities, providing spaces and places where people meet and shop however most of these places have received little attention over recent years. Our community and place regeneration programme is therefore designed to transform neighbourhoods into vibrant community hubs which are locally accessible with great connections to jobs and the city centre. We will also strengthen the role of district centres as a hub for local communities by improving the offer and appearance of district centres, reinforcing a unique identity for local communities and enhancing vibrancy and increasing economic vitality. Our work to achieve these vibrant community hubs involve reducing vacant buildings, enhancing the built environment and reducing clutter, improving access for all users including safer pedestrian and cycle access alongside improved vehicle parking arrangements, creating better connect to jobs and amenities particularly in the city centre and reinforcing community spirit. |
