Purpose | The Derbyshire Branch of the Motor Neurone Disease Association held it's inaugural meeting on the 22 October 1986. The Branch was established with the sole aim of serving all those in the area who are affected by Motor Neurone Disease (MND). This includes people with MND, their carers, family and friends. The Derbyshire Branch of the MND Association became the Derbyshire MND Support Group at an Extraordinary General Meeting held on Wednesday 22 January. 2014. However our aim remains the same, to serve all those in the area who are affected by Motor Neurone Disease MND is an incurable condition that paralyses the muscles leaving people unable to do the everyday things the rest of us take for granted. Walking, talking and swallowing become virtually impossible, yet the mind and senses remain intact. We also liaise with health and Social Care Professionals such as Speech Therapists, Occupational Therapists and the Medical Profession. |
