Purpose | The overarching aim of the Festival is to celebrate and showcase artistic expression, culture and sport within, and beyond the LGBT community and to archive LGBT history as it has contributed and continues to contribute to community life in Derbyshire. Derbyshire Rainbow Fringe Festival is committed to celebrating and promoting the history, culture, diversity and future prosperity of Derbyshire's LGBT community. Community cohestion, upholding human rights and the achievement of equality are also fundamental goals. Objectives: 1. To archive, protect, showcase and celebrate LGBT history and community contribution to the arts, heritage and sport. 2. To act as a conduit for the showcasing of the work of LGBT artists and that of their friends and as a positive force and a voice for the LBGT community towards realising, equality, human rights and community cohesion. 3. To help to build an engaged LGBT community by empowering individuals and groups to participate fully in society through activities like sports and heritage conservation. 4. To create projects which will engage all members of the LGBT community regardless of age, gender, disability, race, social class or faith. |
