Description Chesterfield Shopmobility is a scooter & wheelchair loan service for people with mobility difficulties coming to Chesterfield. It is available to people with a permanent disability, a temporary disability, or to those who just have difficulty in getting around, perhaps because of advancing years. The scheme has manual wheelchairs, powered wheelchairs and a range of three- and four-wheeled electric powered scooters available for use in Chesterfield town centre. Volunteer are involved in all aspects of the work we do, from taking bookings, working with customers and their carers, right the way to taking part in promotions and, most importantly, learning how to ride a scooter and a power wheelchair. The scheme has paid organisers, but could not function to the level it does without the services of volunteers. Renishaw Hall . Purpose Short term loans for holidays and days out are also offered as are long term loans for people to rent a scooter or wheelchair to have at home. Full details from the Chesterfield office.
Services There are other partner schemes to Chesterfield Shopmobility. One is at the Chesterfield Royal Hospital and is called Royal Mini-Riders. Bookings for this service are made through the Hospital, but volunteers are involved in promoting the work in the hospital foyer. New services will also open at Bolsover & Clay Cross Hospitals.
