Purpose

The African Caribbean Community Association (ACCA) exists to celebrate and uplift the African and Caribbean heritage within our community, while creating an inclusive environment for all. Our purpose is to bring people together, reduce isolation, and support the wellbeing of individuals and families through social, cultural, and practical initiatives. By fostering understanding, promoting equality, and encouraging active participation, we aim to empower our members and contribute positively to the wider community. At the heart of everything we do is a commitment to kindness, respect, and building a sense of belonging for everyone.

Services

At the African Caribbean Community Association (ACCA), we offer a wide range of activities and services designed to bring people together and support our local community. We host regular luncheon clubs serving hot meals, run wellbeing drop-ins and social groups to tackle isolation, and create warm spaces for everyone to connect. Families can join our Nature Tots sessions, giving little ones the chance to explore the outdoors and learn through nature-based play. Our calendar features cultural events such as Black History Month celebrations, Windrush commemorations, and Nigeria Independence Day, alongside workshops and school talks promoting diversity and inclusion. Members can take part in fitness sessions, creative workshops, art exhibitions, and a photography club, or join our popular cooking and sewing classes. We also provide practical support by signposting to local agencies for advice and working closely with councils, the NHS, and local partners. Volunteering opportunities are open to all, and we support other community groups by offering free or affordable venue hire. Through everything we do, our aim is to celebrate heritage, build connections, and create a welcoming space where everyone is valued.
