Purpose | The PBC Foundation is the only organisation in the UK exclusively dedicated to providing support and information to those affected by Primary Biliary Cholangitis (PBC), an autoimmune liver condition with no known cause or cure. We are a national organisation with a local outlook: our network of fifty volunteers makes a real difference to over 40,000 people within their local communities. Our aims and objectives are: *to provide PBC sufferers with accurate, up to date information on PBC, its implications, and treatment, in the form of our publications, including 'Living with PBC' and our website *to provide support to all those affected by PBC - including patients, their carers, concerned relatives, and friends - in the form of a helpline, a regular publication, regional meetings within PBC sufferers local community, and a volunteer network throughout every region of the UK *to provide development workshops throughout the country to equip PBC sufferers with the information and techniques to effectively self-manage their lifelong condition *to educate practitioners about PBC, and to raise awareness of the services provided by the PBC Foundation, by distributing detailed information on PBC at medical events throughout the country, and by conducting extensive outreach work *to conduct research into PBC, in order to find a cure/cause. |
