Description | Melbourne Festival is now in its tenth year and is run by an enthusiastic team of volunteers, many of whom have been involved since 2005. The activities of the volunteers are co-ordinated by one paid employee. Melbourne Festival engages people of all ages, genders and backgrounds in activities linked to the creative and performing arts. |

Purpose | To organise and run an annual festival of visual and performing arts in Melbourne, South Derbyshire and surrounding areas. To enhance the profile of Melbourne for the benefit of those who live there and have businesses there. To contribute to the cultural and artistic life of the community by providing an aspiration for new or developing and existing arts and performers. To enhance the sense of community though shared activities between groups that might not otherwise come together. |
Services | Melbourne Art & Architecture Trail: 100 artists in 70 venues (houses, businesses, halls) each September, plus space for local amateur groups to exhibit, local children to exhibit and local people to perform. Melbourne Festival concerts & performances: Music, drama, comedy, dance every September featuring performers from local groups, the UK and overseas. Melbourne Festival workshops: In schools, after school organisations - Guides/Scouts/youth groups, retired people, elderly in care, local residents. Arts, crafts, creative writing, music. |
