Purpose

The main activities of U3A take place in the Interest Group sessions. The primary purpose of Groups is to share knowledge and learn together in a social setting that is relaxed and enjoyable.

Services

We have a Monthly Meeting with a speaker on general topics, news on our Interest Group activities and a chance for members to get together socially. Anyone who wants to find out more is welcome to attend.
However the main activities of U3A take place in the Interest Groups sessions.
Currently in Ashbourne there are the following:
Art Appreciation, Bridge & Bridge for beginners, Choir. Craft, Current Affairs, Family History, French (conversation & beginners sections), Garden, German (competent & beginners sections) , German Conversation, Gold Card Explorers, Landscape Heritage, Lunch, Music Appreciation, Photography, Scrabble, Walking, Word Play, Writing My Life History

Opening Times Monthly Meetings are normally at 2.30pm on the first Friday in the month. Interest Group meetings vary greatly and can be at almost any time but most likely mornings or afternoons Mon - Fri.
Eligibility Criteria U3A is for people in their “Third Age”, i.e. those who have essentially finished any career or full time work commitments (& no longer with parental responsibilities) and either be fully or semi-retired.
Meeting Place Monthly Meetings are normally at St Oswald's Church Hall, School Lane, Ashbourne DE6 1AN Group meetings can be anywhere within our area depending upon the group and its activities.
Service Costs Our membership year runs from 1st April to 31st March and the current membership fee for a full year is £12 (as from 1st April 2015). However if you join later in the year there are reduced rates. We charge £1 at Monthly Meetings to cover room hire and refreshments are included. Group costs vary; many have no charge, others charge sufficient to cover the cost of venue hire or transport on outings.
