Purpose | In response to a 999 call and at the direction of ambulance control, we are sent at the same time as an emergency ambulance or fast response car to certain medical emergencies. Because we live locally, we are often able to get to the patient within minutes sometimes arriving before the ambulance and are then able to provide care for the patient until the ambulance arrives |
Services | We are a group of specially trained volunteers, who work in partnership with East Midlands Ambulance Service to provide immediate first aid to members of our community |
What they do |
|
Geographical area coverage | High Peak,Part(s) of Derbyshire,Whaley Bridge, New Mills, Hayfield, Chapel en-le Frith, Peak Dale, Dove Holes, Buxworth, Chinley, Furness Vale, Coombs & Buxton |

Opening Times | We aim to give emergency cover seven days a week from eight am until ten pm, most members have different amounts of time available each week and we work together to give the best cover possible. Being a Community Responder is similar to being a member of Mountain Rescue teams or Life Boat Crews in that we are still able to go about our normal daily activities whilst on call, be that at home or at work, we just need to be able to ‘drop’ whatever we are doing and respond to a call. |
Eligibility Criteria | To be a Community First Responder, you must have a driving licence and access to a car, be over 18 and be reasonably fit. Our role is subject to enhanced Disclosure and Barring checks and strict rules regarding patient confidentiality |
