Purpose

The University of the Third
Age (U3A) movement is a unique and exciting organisation which
provides, through its U3As, life-enhancing and life-changing
opportunities. Retired and semi-retired people, also anyone with time available during the day, come together and learn
together, not for qualifications but for its own reward: the sheer joy
of discovery!
 

Members share their skills and life experiences: the learners teach and
the teachers learn, and there is no distinction between them.

The U3A movement is supported by its national organisation, the Third Age Trust.

Opening Times Most of our Interest Groups meet during day times (see website). Our monthly meeting is between 1.00 and 3.00 pm on the third Wednesday of each month (except August).
Eligibility Criteria Everyone is welcome although most of our members are over about 50 years old.
Meeting Place Interest Groups meet in many places such as community halls and members' homes. The main monthly meeting is at Long Eaton Leisure Centre.
Service Costs There is an annual membership fee which varies from one U3A to another. The 2014-2015 annual fee for Long Eaton and District U3A is £16. Some Interest Groups have additional costs; please enquire.
