| Purpose | Deaf-initely Women is a charity that is managed by deaf, deafblind and hard of hearing women. Deaf-initely Women serves all deaf and hard of hearing women in Derby, Derbyshire, Nottingham, Nottinghamshire and beyond. We give each other emotional strength to help us to cope with our working and family lives and provide opportunities to gain confidence, knowledge and new skills. We serve all deaf women from the age of 16+ and with varying degrees of deafness and communication needs. |
| Services | We aim to ensure that all deaf women are: Living safe and free from fear and domestic/sexual abuse. We provide support services, workshops, Freedom programme, etc. Empowered to learn in an inclusive environment through free workshops and classes Supported to gain work skills and experience through volunteering opportunities and free vocational qualifications. Given a voice, be heard & respected through generic and specialist advocacy services , and enabled to improve their health and well-being through connections and activities. |
