Purpose

To relieve the isolation of vulnerable or elderly people in the area of Hathersage parish by establishing, maintaining and developing a visiting befriending service for the giving of social contact and support.

Services

Volunteers are matched with members on an individual basis and act as their member’s befriender in accordance with the principles and policies of Hathersage Befrienders. This usually involves visiting the member for a few hours each week at their residence. Occasionally volunteers and members may agree to go on an outing together e.g. for coffee and cake at a local cafe.
