Purpose The old railway bridge in elegant Friar Gate was once one of Derby’s most beautiful landmarks. It has been neglected for too long.

We, the Friends of Friar Gate Bridge are working hard to raise public awareness about the history of the bridge and to promote its conservation, protection and improvement.

We continue to engage with the public and all interested bodies to establish an ongoing use for the bridge, which will not remain simply as a piece of ornate street architecture - but will have a practical use. We are also continuing with our efforts to raise funds to ensure that the bridge is fully restored for generations to come.
