Purpose The cricket club provides an environment where members of the community can participate in competitive sport if they wish, or use the club to simply become more active in taking part in our training sessions.
We offer coaching from the ages of 5 upwards through a variety of schemes working with the Derbyshire Cricket Board and the English Cricket Board. Our AllStars cricket is aimed at ages 5-8 year with them simply having the opportunity to be active in an outdoor arena.
Our Kwik Cricket is for ages up to 11 with us taking part in a local league introducing children to "competitive" sport. We work closely with the local schools Sports Partnership group and Bolsover Sports Development team plus we host Kwik Cricket events at the grounds for representative games.
We have 2 adult teams that play competitive cricket in the Bassetlaw League and enter the national Village Cricket competition. Adults have organised coaching at least one evening per week where our ECB qualified coaches run sessions on cricketing techniques but also general fitness as well. Our juniors have coaching during the week and play a number of "competitive" games throughout the summer.
Our cricket club was formed in 1892 and we strive to maintain links with the local community. The club hosts the annual Village carnival as well as the Bonfire Night plus we make use of local facilities such as the Community Centre to host fundraising activities as the Pavilion we use was built in 1946 and isn't capable of holding more than 30 people.
