Purpose We organise a 1940s and Wartime event (first weekend in May) which encourages involvement, is totally inclusive and free to the end users. The event is also educational and entertaining for all-comers. It is also an opportunity to join thousands of people who meet at events around the country and share in the living history and tributes paid to those who were involved during the war years, both military and civilian.
We also provide a weekly get together in the Moor Ward area of Chesterfield for elderly, lonely and in cases needy residents. At present we average 18/20 participants who have a coffeee afternoon to include bingo and raffles. We also organise at least two buffets and two fish and chip dinners annually, celebrate birthdays and seasonal activities. On accassions we hire transport and visit a garden centre or shopiing centre.
At present we are working on developing volunteer recruitment media by carrying out interviews with interested parties who wish to reach out to potential members via social media and websites.

We hold six committee meetings a year and meet socially mostFriday lunch times at Staveley Hall, others that know us can join us for a coffee and we can exchange views and news.
The Tuesday pensioners group meets 48 times per year at Wimborne Crescent Community room in Newbold noon - 2pm.

We all contribute for refreshments, all pay for bingo and raffle and all proceeds are kept separate for this activity. We are limited to 24 persons at any time.
