Purpose

To offer reading coaching to adults living in Derby and the Amber Valley. Reading coaching is free of charge, face to face, and one-to-one with a trained volunteer reading coach.

Services

We offer free, confidential reading coaching to adults living in Derby and the Amber Valley.
Coaching is face-to-face between one reader and their dedicated coach, who meet twice week for half an hour each time.
Readers and coaches meet at pre-approved public venues where they will be visible but not over-looked. We use a phonics-based scheme which has been developed especially for adults.
Our organisation is legally and financially independent and affiliated to Read Easy UK which is a registered charity (Registered Charity: 1151288) and acts as an umbrella organisation for local Read Easy groups.

Eligibility Criteria Our reading coaching is open to all adults who have a fairly good level of spoken English.
Meeting Place The venue for reading coaching is arranged with a view to where the reader and their coach live, to make it easily accessible by both. All coaching sessions take place in public venues which have been approved in advance by our team. The venues are chosen so that the reader and coach feel safe and supported by the presence of staff, but not overlooked - e.g. an area in a public library.
