Purpose Derwent valley Line Community Rail Partnership aims to connect local communities to their train station. DVL runs from Derby to Matlock. Our volunteers look after the stations. They support events and activities that improve sustainable transport options. Our volunteer sessions are often focused on gardening in and around the stations.

Each station adopter group meets at different times and days. We have active groups at Duffield, Belper, Ambergate, Whatstandwell, Cromford, Matlock Bath and Matlock. We meet at the train sations. Volunteers focus on gardening but also station improvements and with art and mosaics making the stations more appealing. Adopters need to do a safety briefing but also qualify for 4 free train tickets a year anywhere on the East Midlands Railway network. We are not set up for working with young people under 18 at the moment. As a train station can have risks we do need to asses the suitability of applicants. Our volunteer groups manage themselves with support from community rail officer.
